This course explores the psychological, emotional, and practical challenges parents face when raising children with special needs, such as autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, and physical disabilities. Students will learn how these conditions affect family dynamics, parental well-being, and sibling relationships, and how cultural and community factors shape parenting.

Discuss the psychological and emotional impact of raising a child with special needs on parents and family dynamics.
Analyze various special needs conditions and their implications for child development and parenting.
Evaluate evidence-based parenting strategies and interventions for promoting the well-being of children with special needs.
Examine the role of social, cultural, and community resources in supporting families of children with special needs.
Develop skills in advocacy, collaboration, and resource navigation to support children’s development and family functioning.
